In August 2018, the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC) and Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) published a response to the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Five years later, both organisations sought to provide an update on the progress towards those recommendations. The NCPR was commissioned to assist with the progress investigation, the coordination of responses from various organisations, and writing the report.
In August 2023, on the five-year anniversary of the previous report, the ACBC and CRA published their updated report. The initiatives in response to the recommendations were found to have gone beyond what was initially recommended.
